PURPOSE: To consider making new appointments to the Agricultural Preservation Board.
BACKGROUND: The Clerk's office has received a recommendation from the Agricultural
Preservation Board for Joe Thompson and Tony Kleese. If appointed, Mr.Thompson will be
serving a full term ending 6/30/2012 and Mr. Kleese will be serving a partial term ending
6/30/2011.

Dear Board of County Commissioners:
At the February 18th board meeting, the Agricultural Preservation Board
recommended that Stanley Hughes' seat be declared vacant due to attendance
and conflicts preventing his participation in the board meetings. Mr. Hughes has
been contacted and invited to participate as time allows, however, he has had
standing conflicts for the last few years that have precluded his attendance.
The Agricultural Preservation Board recommends Joe Thompson and Tony
Kleese for appointment to fill the slots of Hughes and Marty Mandell. The Board
feels that with Mr. Kleese's background of promoting sustainable and alternative
farming and Mr. Thompson's alternative farming operation in Cedar Grove.
Township, they would offer considerable knowledge and diverse expertise that
will be valuable to the goals and mission of the Agricultural Preservation Board.
