Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A, trlard, seconded by Commissioner
Richard E. Whitted, it was moved and adopted, that the Hoard approve the
construction of the Seawell Elementary School Road and the re-location
of SR 1303.
Thane being no further business to some before the Board the meeting
was adjourned to meet again on Thursday, May 10, 1973, at S P,?+I, in the
District Courtroom.

The Board of County Commissioners met in special session. on Thursday, Maq
10, 1973, in the District Courtroom at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough,
Henbane Present: Chairmar_ C, Norman Walker, and Commissioners Henry S,
Walker, Ira A, Ward, Flora Garrett and Richard E. ~iihitted,
Members Absent: Tdone,
This meeting was held in order that the Hoard might hear pat Adkins,
regional Coordinator for the Governors Council for the Aging, discuss the
possibility of creating a County-Wide Council on the Aging,

~'` Alderman Frad Chamblee was present representing the Town of Carrboro,
Council Sohn Roberts was present representing the Town of Hillsborough, Alderman
` Shirley Reg•ers, Ross Scro sand Joe Nasiff were resent reprasentin

pal Hill. These representatives were invited to attend thiahmeeting
as the program for the Council for the Aging way of mutual interest to each
governmental unit. Considerable discussion ensued as ho:a a Council on the Aging
would be organized and would function, The programs presently in effect in the
Town of Chanel Hill was reviewed,
Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A, Ward, seconded by Cammisaioner Richard
E. ldh.itted, it was moved and adopted, Orange County would participate in a
County-Wide Counail on the Aging and that it would support the program up to
but not exceeding the amount of X3,000.00,
There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was
adjourned,
