February 8, 1973
The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in special session
on Thursday, February S, 1973 at 1} o~clock P.M. in the Chapel H311 Town Hall.
Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker and Comtn3.ssioners Henry S.
Walker, Ira A. Ward, Flora (}arrett and Richard E. Whitted.
Members Absent: None
This special meeting was called for the purpose of discussing with the
members of the Utilities Task Force the possibility of appointing two members
of the County Board of Cotmnissianers to the Board oP Directors of the
corporation which was being formed for the purpose of acquiring the utility
aerviaes currently owned by the University of North Carolina. It was agreed
that each of the governmental units would appoint twa members of its Board to
serve as the Directors of the proposed acrporation. Chairman Norman Walker
appointed Commissioner Ira A. Ldard and Commissioner Richard E. Whitted as the
County's repreaentativea on the Board of Directors of the Consumer~a Utility
Corporation. The County Manager was appointed to serve as an ex-officio
member of the Board. The Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro appointed their
Town Managers as ex-officio members.
There being no further business to come before the group the meeting was
adjourned.
