BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
January 30, 1973
The Board of County Coaaa2asionera of Orange County met in special session
on Tuesday, January 30, 1973, st 8:00 P.M. in the District Courtroom of the
Courthouse in Hillsborough.
Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker and CoIImiissinnera b'lora Garrett, ^i
Henry S. Walker and Richard Whitted.
Members Absent: Commissioner Ira A. Ward.

This meeting was held in order that the Board of Comsaiseionera might meet
with a representative of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Utility Authority. Roland
McClamroek, Jr. and Robert Oaka,appearad before the Board and gave a brief summary
of the things the Authority had been doing in order to acquire all or a part of
the University Utility Properties when the University disposes of these systems.
Mr. McClamrock stated that the Authority needed to finanoe a budget of about
$b6,000.00. The Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro had each agreed to assume one-third oP the
necessary financing and the Authority hoped the County would agree to assume the
other one-third of the projected oust. Mr. McClamroc'd also presented to the
Board of Co~isaioners letters of endorsement of the Authorities efforts •
that were written today by both the Towns of Carrboro and Chapel Mill. Chairman
Walker advised Mr. McClamrock and Mr. Oaks the Board oP Commissioners would take
this matter under advisement and let the Authority know of its decision as soon
as possible.
There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was
adjourned.
