A letter from Grace Bailey concerning commeroial development along the
Durham-Chapel Hi11 Boulevard was received. The Cj.erk was instructed to forward
same to the County Planning Board and to the Chapel Hill planning Board.
The Board was advised that Aon Cax, President of the Fno Society for the
Preservation of the Fho River, had presented faun dates which would be available
for the scheduling of a joint meeting of the society and the Board. zt was
agreed that the meeting would be set for Monday, January 15, 1973, at 7;30 P.M.
and it was further agreed that a meeting with Bynum Weaver of the Chapel Hill
Funeral Home and the South Orange Resaus Squad should be scheduled for
Tuesday, January 16, 1973, at 7;3o P. M.
L. M. Cheshire, Jr. presented a plat entitled property of J. C. Parsons.
Mr. Cheshire advised the Board that the plat had been approved by the County
Planning Board.
Upon motion of Commissioner Richard Whitted, seconded by Coam~isaioner zra
A. Ward, it was moved and adopted, that the Chairman and the County Administrator
be authorized to sign the certificate of approval on said plat.
Commissioner Ira A. Ward stated that he had received a request from Wilbur
Kutz far the County to consider abolishing the fee system for use of the newly
opened landfill area. Discussion ensued.
Commissioner Flora Garrett stated that she felt the County should take a
position relative to the policy of securing permits for dumping and opening the
landfill area on Saturday. Someone else suggested that there existed a need for
a dumper area outside the fenced area for the benefit of oitizena who could not
arrange to use the landfill during the hours that the landfill was open. It

to bring these matters to the attention of Robert Peck, Manager of the Town of
Chapel Hill and to report the reaulte of his diacuasion back to the Board.

January 11, 1973
The Board of County Cozrmaisaionera oP Crange County met is special session
on Thursday, January 11, 1973, at 7:30 P.M. in the Diatriat Courtroom vi' the
Courthouse in Hillsborough.
Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker, and Commissioners Flora Garrett
and Richard Whitted.
Members Absent; Comenisaioners zra A. Ward and Henry S. walker.
~----Chairman Walker stated that this F.keautive Ssasion had been called for the
purpose of diaausaing the pvrahase of land for the Seven Mile Creek Reservoir.
No detail minutes of the diacuasion were recorded.
There being no further business to come bef a the Board the meeting was
ad3ourned to meet again on Monday, January 1S, 1973, at 7;30 p.M.
