BCARD OF COMMISSIONERS
August 1, 19.72
The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in anecial aeasion
in the Courtroom of the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina on Tuesday,
August 1, 1972, at 8 o~clock P.M.
Members Preaent: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C.
Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker.
Members Absent: None
Chairman Bennett declared that this was the time and place for the public
hearing to consider certain zoning proposals. For minutes oP this publio hearing

At the eoneluaion of the public hearing Chairman Bennett called the members
of the County Board of Commissioners together for a meeting. Chairman Bennett
stated that the Board had received requests from citizens and from Duke University
asking the postponement of the public hearing which had been scheduled for
Thursday, August 3, 1972. The August 3rd meeting was the time in which the Board
would consider the re-zoning of a parcel of land in Chapel 83.11 Township from
residential to rural industrial and that this request had been filed in order to
e11ow a sanitary landfill operation on this particular tract of land. Discussion
ensued.
The Board agreed to nrocaed with the scheduled public hearing. Chairman
Bennett then declared the request for postponement denied.
The developer of Wolfs Pond submitted a plat for Section 3 of the development
for approval. He stated that weather conditions had prevented him from preparing
the roads according to State specifications. The Board approQed the plat, but
directed the County Administrator not to sign the certificate of approval until
the State Highway Commission advised the County that the said roads in Section 3
of Wolfs Fond met the State specifications.
There being no further buainesa to some before the Board the meeting was
adjovsned,to meet again on August 3, 1972.

The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in spacial ~oint.seasion
with the County Planning Board on Thursday, August 3, 1972, at 8 o~clock P.M. in
the Courtroom of the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Members Preaent: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William C. Ray,
Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker.
Members Absent; None
Chairman Bennett called the meeting to order and announced that this was the
time and place of the duly advertised publin hearing. Chairman Bennett turned the
chair over to Giovanni Miahol,"Vice Chairman of the County Planning Board. Mr.
Micol conductea the public hearing. For minutes of this public hearing see the

At the conolusion of the public hearing Vice.Cha.irman I.ical.turned the-chair back
to Chairman Bennett and Chairman Bennett then ad3ourned the meeting.
