BOARD OF COMMISSIOPIERS
Map 8, 1972
The Board of County Commi.ssionera of Orange County met in adfourned session
on Monday, May 8, 1972, at 8 o~cloak P.M. in the Library Building at
Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C.
Ray, Henry s. talker, Tra A. Ward and C. Norman Walker.
Members Absent: None
Mrs. E.M. Lockhart, Mra. Riohard Bond, Mr a. Virginia Warren and Don
Matheson, Trustees of the Confederate Memorial Library, and Lloyd Osterman,
Regional Librarian, were present.
Chairman Bennett opened the aessfan by advising the group that the Board
had felt it advisable to discuss the recent gift of the Burnside property
to Orange County. He stated that he Pelt the following question needed to be
answered by the Library Board "Did the Library Trustees approveā¢of the gift
and do they want the Board of Commissioners to undertake a study of the
property in order to determine what might be feasible in the way of utilizing
the property Por library purposes?"
The Library Trustees responded to the question by saying "That they most
certainly did approve of the gift of Burnside and they were very interested in
having a feasibility study conducted."
F~,urther discussion ensued. Mr. Osterman was requested tc secure a proposal
for a study of Burnside from an architectural firm.
Ther® being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was
adfourned.
