BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS -
duly 13, 1971
The Board oP County Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned
joint session with the County Planning Board at the duly advertised public
hearing on Tuesday, duly 13, 1971, at 8:00 o~clock P. M, in the Courtroom of
the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina. i
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C.
Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker.
- Members Absent: None
Chairman Bennett sailed the meeting to order and then turned the chair
over to Charles W. Johnston, Chairman of the County Planning Board. Chairman
Johnston proceeded to conduct the public hearing.
For the minutes of the meeting of the Orange County Planning Board sae the
minute docket of that Board.
At the conclusion of the public hearing Chairman Johnston turned the chair
back to Chairman Bennett. Chairman Bennett then declared the public hearing
adjourned.
Chairman Bennett advised the other members of the Board that a Commissioners
meeting would be held in the Commissioners room. The Board reviewed the proposed
1971-1972 budget.
There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was
adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, July ]1}, 1971, at 5:00 o~aloak P, M. in
the Commiasiottiera Room of the Courthouse. in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William

This meeting was held Por the purpose of disausaing and reviewing the 1971-
1972 budget.
The Board considered the sohool appropriations request and salaries of
emploge9s. It was agreed that after reviewing the entire budget situation
that there was a nosatbility that the current tax rate would have to be
established at $1.27 per one hundred dollar valuation. No cation was taken on
any of the budget matters.
There being no further business to Dome before the Board the meeting was
adjourned to meet again on Thursday, July 22, 1971, Por the duly advertised
public hearing on the question of the One Cent Local Option Sales Tax.
