The Ccunty Attorney advised the Board that certain impedimenta of title could
be lodged against the heirs of Robert and Luvenia Bynum because oP a Old Age
Assistance Lien Piled against Golden B. Holman, therefore, in order to clear
the title it was necessary for a release deed releasing any possible claim
from notice of lien Piled Sn the office of the Clerk of Superior Court of orange
County on August 2, 1966, against Golden H. Holman.
Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Cotmaisaioner Henry S.
Walker, it was moved and adopted, that Chairman Bennett be authorized to sign a `-,
release deed Prom Orange County to Nettie Bynum Shaw on lot !} oP the property oP
Robert and Luvenia Bynum heirs.
Chairman Bennett filed the following items with the Clerk:
1. Veterans Service Officers Report.
2. Letter from the Animal Protection Society of Chapel Hi11, Inc.
3. Letter Prom George F. Williams, Superintendent of the Orange County
Schools relative to SR 1315.

again on Tuesday, June 29, 1971, at $:00 P.M. in the Commissioners Room at the

BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
June 10, 1971
The Board of County Commissioners oP Orange County met in adjourned session
at 8:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 10, 1971, in the Comaiseivnera Room of the
Courthouse i.n Hillabvrough, North Carolina.
Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Sennett, and Commissioners William C.
Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and C. Norman Walker.
Members Absent: None
This session was held Por the purpose of discussing the possibility of
completing the water line along Fast Center Street with members oP the Mebane
Town Board of Alderman and the Manager of the Town of Mebane.
A repreaentativa of the General 137_eotric Corporation was also present. He
stated that General Electric~s concern in the matter was to assure that an
alternate source oP water to their plant might be obtained. Chairman Bennett
stated that the County intended to complete the water line when there is enough
demand Por the water, thus justifying the County~s expenditure Por said project.
The County Administrator advised the Board that the North Central Piedmont
Resources Conservation & Development Agency planned to proceed with the
installation of the sediment structures at Lake Orange.

Upon motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner Henry
S. Walker, it wsa moved and adopted, that Chairman Bennett be authorized to sign
the Following documents: A Project Maasuraa Work Plan Agreement with the Orange
Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Soil Conservation Servfae, USDA,
A Prajeet Measures Agreement and An Operation and Maintenance Agreement for
sediment atruoture #3 with the Soil Conservation Service, USDA.
There being no further buainesa to come before the Board the meeting was
adjourned to meet again on Monday, June 28, 1971.

Savings & Loan Building in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

of meeting with the County Housing Authority. For a record of the proceedings

The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned session
at 8:00 o'clock P, M. on Tuesday, June 29, 1971, in the Commissioners Room at the
Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
Members Preaeat: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, aad Cammisaionera William C.
Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A, Ward and C. Norman Walker.
Members Absent: None
The following members of the Chapel H111 City School Board were present;
Senneth Howard, Sam Holton, Everett Billingalq, Marvin Silver, Mra. Mary Scrogga
and I~, Wilmer S. Cody, Superintendent of said unit.
Chairman Bennett recognized Dr. Cody and Mra. Mary Scroggs. They presented
a Current Eapenae recueat of $623,630 and a Capital Outlay recueat of $798,302.
Tt was cited that the Currant Expense recueat would enable the Chapel Hill School
Board to maintain its current programs and also allow a modest salary increase
for its personnel.
